Objetivo: Comparar la edad cronológica y la edad dental según el método de Demirjian,
en pacientes de 5 a 13 años que acudieron al Centro Estomatológico Luis vallejos Santoni
Cusco, 2023. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo de alcance
descriptivo, de diseño no experimental, corte transversal y retrospectivo, donde se
evaluaron 266 radiografías panorámicas 137 pertenecientes al sexo femenino y 129 al
sexo masculino. Resultados: Las diferencias entre la edad cronológica y la edad dental
fueron estadísticamente poco significativas teniendo en cuenta el nivel de significancia
<0.05. Existió subestimación en ambos sexos teniendo al sexo masculino con mayor
subestimación de 0.39 décimas de años y el sexo femenino con una subestimación de 0.31
décimas de años. Para ambos sexos la mayor subestimación ocurrió en los rangos de edad
11- 11.99 y la menor subestimación se dio en el rango de 6 – 6.99. Conclusión:
Considerando los resultados se concluye que al comparar la edad cronológica con la edad
dental existe subestimación con una diferencia estadísticamente poco significativa en
ambos sexos. Objective: To compare chronological age and dental age according to the Demirjian
method, in patients aged 5 to 13 years who attended the Luis Vallejos Santoni Cusco
Stomatological Center, 2023. Materials and methods: A quantitative analysis of
descriptive observational scope, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional as well
as retrospective, was carried out, where 266 panoramic radiographs were evaluated, 137
belonging to girls and 129 to boys. Results: The differences between chronological and
dental age were not statistically significant considering the significance level <0.05.
There was an underestimation in both sexes, with males with a greater underestimation
of 0.39 and females with an underestimation of 0.31. For both sexes, the greatest
underestimation occurred in the age ranges 11-11.99 and the lowest underestimation
occurred in the range 6-6.99. Conclusion: Considering the findings, it is concluded that
when comparing chronological age with dental age, there is an underestimation with a
statistically insignificant difference in both sexes.
