dificultad para dormir( OR 14.04, P=0.02, IC=2,36-55,19), el dolor faríngeo (OR 6.12, P=0.01,
IC=1,06-26,82), el consumo de alcohol (OR 3.98, P=0.01, IC=1,55- 13,98), la apnea obstructiva (OR
5.16, P=0.00, IC=1,23-30,60),el consumo de grasas(OR 5.92, P=0.01, IC=1,74- 20,59),el consumo
de café(OR 4.44, P=0.00, IC=1,55- 13,98), y la actividad física deficiente (OR 3.27, P=0.01, IC=1,36-

responsible for high treatment costs, and, being a complex disease, with multiple related factors and
extensive symptoms, it was important to carry out an investigation of them that They will help us to
discern and identify the clinical characteristics and risk factors, in order to carry out an early and
adequate treatment. Methods: The quantitative, observational method was used, with a case-control,
analytical, retrospective study; having as inclusion criteria: patients between the ages of 18 and 80,
of both sexes, with and without the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease, who attended the
Gastroenterology service of the Regional Hospital of Cusco, in the month of April to June of the
2023. As exclusion criteria we had patients with a diagnosis of neoplasia, hiatal hernia and pregnant
patients. The sample was non-probabilistic of 320 patients, between 160 cases and 160 controls,
through an anonymously validated survey and their prior consent and review of medical records
authorized by the hospital. The statistical analysis of the data was carried out through the IBM SPSS
® v27 software and descriptive and inferential statistics were used.
Results: Being a study of 320 patients between cases and controls, calculating an ORa: 2.77, 95% CI
[1.31-5.86], p=0.00 < 0.05, we found that there is a relationship between gastroesophageal reflux
disease, and: the male sex and the (OR 3.58, P=0.04, CI=1.06-8.90), obesity (OR 3.09, P=0.01,
CI=1.21-8.62), difficulty sleeping (OR 14.04, P=0.02, CI=2.36-55.19), sore throat (OR 6.12, P=0.01,
CI=1.06-26.82), alcohol consumption (OR 3.98, P=0.01, CI =1.55-13.98), obstructive sleep apnea
(OR 5.16, P=0.00, CI=1.23-30.60), fat intake (OR 5.92, P=0.01, CI=1.74- 20.59), coffee consumption
(OR 4.44, P=0.00, CI=1.55-13.98), and poor physical activity (OR 3.27, P=0.01, CI=1.36- 9.84 ).
Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease and the
male sex, obesity, difficulty sleeping, pharyngeal pain, alcohol consumption, obstructive apnea, fat
consumption, coffee consumption, deficient physical activity and heart disease. | en_US |
