Repercusiones de la pandemia COVID-19 en la salud sexual y reproductiva de las trabajadoras sexuales atendidas en el Hospital Regional del Cusco, 2022

Abstract

Introducción: En el Perú las trabajadoras sexuales son parte de la población vulnerable, víctimas de discriminación y estigmas sociales, declinando con la pandemia su situación laboral, su salud sexual y reproductiva. Objetivos: Describir las repercusiones de la pandemia Covid-19 en la salud sexual y reproductiva de las trabajadoras sexuales atendidas en el Hospital Regional de Cusco, desde las experiencias en el desarrollo de su oficio. Metodología: La investigación con enfoque cualitativo, fenomenológico y de diseño no experimental de corte transversal. La técnica utilizada es la entrevista semiestructurada. La muestra, obtenida por saturación, está conformada por 16 trabajadoras sexuales. Resultados: En la modalidad de prestación de su oficio, las trabajadoras sexuales manifiestan que; el ejercicio de su oficio se vio afectada, se reinventaron aprovechando las redes sociales, la frecuencia de sus clientes disminuyó, consecuentemente el costo de su servicio, en algunas; se mantuvo y/o bajó, ajustaron los protocolos de bioseguridad, aplicando en su servicio las mascarillas, alcohol y otros insumos como medidas de protección. En la repercusión en la salud sexual, las usuarias concurrieron a sus controles ocasionalmente, una minoría exterioriza haber adquirido infecciones vaginales y en la prevención de cáncer de cuello uterino se realizó a necesidad de las usuarias. Por último, en la repercusión en salud reproductiva, las trabajadoras sexuales generalmente emplean preservativos renunciando los otros métodos anticonceptivos. Conclusión: La pandemia Covid-19, reinventó el ejercicio de su oficio de las trabajadoras sexuales generando repercusiones en su salud sexual y reproductiva.

Introduction: In Peru sex workers are part of the vulnerable population, victims of discrimination and social stigmas, declining with the pandemic their labor situation, their sexual and reproductive health. Objectives: To describe the repercussions of the Covid- 19 pandemic on the sexual and reproductive health of female sex workers treated at the Regional Hospital of Cusco, based on their experiences in the development of their profession. Methodology: Research with a qualitative, phenomenological approach and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The technique used is the semi-structured interview. The sample, obtained by saturation, is made up of 16 sex workers. Results: In the modality of providing their services, the sex workers state that the exercise of their profession was affected, they reinvented themselves by taking advantage of social networks, the frequency of their clients decreased, consequently the cost of their service in some of them was maintained and/or decreased, they adjusted the biosecurity protocols, applying masks, alcohol and other supplies as protective measures in their services. Regarding the impact on sexual health, the users attended their check-ups occasionally, a minority reported having acquired vaginal infections, and cervical cancer prevention was carried out at the request of the users. Finally, in the impact on reproductive health, sex workers generally use condoms, renouncing other contraceptive methods. Conclusion: The Covid-19 pandemic reinvented the sex workers' practice, generating repercussions on their sexual and reproductive health.
