Introducción: Los adultos mayores requieren demandas importantes de atención, agravando
esta, si son dependientes, siendo necesario contar con la ayuda de cuidadores, si este
acontecimiento no es manejado apropiadamente determinará un nivel de agotamiento en el
impacto del cuidado, calidad de relación interpersonal, la relación con su aspecto, expectativas
de autoeficacia u otros, que comprometerá la salud tanto del paciente como el cuidador, más aún
si este no está capacitado para el cuidado y no recibe remuneración económica.
Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de agotamiento en cuidadores informales de adultos mayores
dependientes en geriatría del Hospital Nacional Adolfo Guevara Velasco periodo Julio – Octubre
2022.
Método: Estudio cuantitativo, observacional, descriptico de corte transversal. La muestra fue
conformada por 175 cuidadores informales del adulto mayor dependiente del Hospital Nacional
Adolfo Guevara Velasco 2022. Se utilizo la encuesta sociodemográfica y escala de Zarit como
instrumento de recolección de datos, permitiendo el estudio con distribución de frecuencias,
porcentajes, prueba paramétrica Chi Cuadrado, con un intervalo de confianza al 95% con un
nivel de significancia de p<0.05.
Resultados: A nivel general tenemos que el 73.7% presenta agotamiento intenso, 16.6% muestra
un nivel de agotamiento leve y solo el 9.7% no muestra nivel de agotamiento, en relación a la
dimensión impacto del cuidado el 50.3% presenta sobrecarga leve, sobre relaciones
interpersonales el 50.9% no presenta sobrecarga y en las expectativas de autoeficacia el 49.1%
muestra una sobrecarga leve.
Conclusión: El nivel de agotamiento de los cuidadores informales de adultos mayores
dependientes es un problema significativo con un impacto significativo en la salud y el bienestar
tanto de los cuidadores como de los propios adultos mayores. Introduction: Older adults require significant demands of care, aggravating this, if they are

Objective: To determine the level of burnout in informal caregivers of geriatric dependent older
adults at the Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital, July - October 2022.
Method: Quantitative, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive study. The sample
consisted of 175 informal caregivers of the dependent elderly at the Hospital Nacional Adolfo
Guevara Velasco 2022. The sociodemographic survey and Zarit scale were used as an instrument
for data collection, allowing the study with frequency distribution, percentages, parametric Chi-
square test, with a 95% confidence interval with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: At a
general level, 73.7% showed intense burnout, 16.6% showed mild burnout and only 9.7%
showed no burnout. In relation to the dimension of the impact of caregiving, 50.3% showed mild
overload, 50.9% showed no overload in interpersonal relationships, and 49.1% showed mild
overload in self-efficacy expectations.
Conclusion: The level of burnout of informal caregivers of dependent older adults is a
significant problem with a significant impact on the health and well-being of both the caregivers
and the older adults themselves.
