Data from the National Survey of Demand for Financial Services and Level of Financial Culture of the Superintendency of Banking and Insurance for the year 2016 are used. Among the main conclusions of the research, it is found that living in rural areas reduces the probability of calculating correctly an interest rate problem at 16.7%. Likewise, it reduces the probability of properly identifying the risk-return ratio by 11%. It is also identified that having a higher income range increases the probability of correctly calculating an interest rate problem by 9.45%. On the other hand, no significant effects are found in identifying the risk-return relationship or in understanding the concept of inflation.en_US
