The present investigation is oriented to carry out a comparative analysis in the estimation
of bearing capacity using 4 calculation equations for the design of Surface Foundations and
an SPT test, these equations belong to: “Terzagui, Meyerhof, Hansen and Vesic” being used
in the News in our local environment. In the preparation of this thesis, open pit excavations
(gaps) were carried out randomly and from which samples were extracted for testing in the
soil laboratory, said soil samples belong to the area of Tambocancha, Chinchero District of
the Province from the Urubamba Department of Cusco, the tests that were carried out were
both characterization and resistance to cutting. For the development of the various tests, we
worked in the soil laboratory of the Andean University of Cusco. The study was applied to
the Design of Surface Foundations such as insulated footings, combined footings, connected
footings, foundation beams and foundation slab. It was concluded that the calculation
equations have a greater permissible capacity with respect to the results of the SPT test. It
was also found that the calculation equations, (Hansen, Meyerhof, Terzaghi and Vesic), are
structured according to the cohesion of the soil (c), angle of internal friction. It was shown
that the water table increases the bearing capacity of the results obtained from the
calculation equations for a cohesive soil considering that the clay is submerged and has a
specific submerged or buoyant weight that causes the pore pressure to generate a foundation
force. It was possible to verify that the elastic settlement decreases according to the depth,
verifying that the depth is lower due to one of the factors (A2) that were used for the
calculation of the elastic foundation settlement on saturated clay is a function of 𝐷𝑓/𝐵 which
is the relationship between the depth of foundation and the width of the shoe It was possible
to verify that, if there is a direct relationship between the forms of the types of foundations
based on their respective ultimate load capacities.
