The research called: “Evaluation of the thermal conductivity and physical-mechanical properties of concrete blocks replacing the confidch with expanded pearl-type polystyrene”, examined the behavior of pearl-type polystyrene, determining that there is a difference in the physical- mechanical properties of concrete blocks. The thermal conductivity was carried out with the ASTM C177-13 standard, a standard that details the procedure and the apparatus to be used, an apparatus that was developed and elaborated by the researchers for concrete blocks. For the main tests, such as warping, dimensional variation, absorption, density and resistance to compression, they were carried out under current national regulations, using the equipment and / or tools of the laboratory of the Professional School of Civil Engineering of the Andean University of Cusco. With the replacement of the confidch with the expanded pearl polystyrene in the concrete blocks, a decrease in thermal conductivity was evidenced resulting in an element with greater thermal insulation capacity, together that the absorption and density properties decrease with a compression resistance that increases by a maximum point. The results demonstrate a clear modification of the properties of concrete blocks by replacing one of the main materials used for their manufacture. The classification of the concrete block was made for a non-bearing block, under this consideration, the investigation showed that the physical-mechanical properties established in the Peruvian regulations are maintained, giving an increase in the thermal properties of the concrete block as the expanded polystyrene with confectionery. This shows that with an increase in the percentage of bead-type expanded polystyrene, a lower thermal conductivity is obtained.en_US
