Características que influyen en el consumo de fuentes de DHA durante la lactancia materna en dos hospitales de la ciudad del Cusco, 2020

Antecedentes: El consumo de DHA es importante para el desarrollo y crecimiento del
cerebro, siendo crucial en los primeros meses de vida de un recién nacido. El DHA debe ser
considerado esencial en la dieta materna de la madre, en específico fuentes ricas en omega3.
Por
ello
la
OMS,
así
como
diversos
estudios
recomienda
una
ingesta
de
al
menos
200
mg/día
de
DHA
en
gestantes
y
lactantes.
METODOS:
El estudio fue de tipo observacional, descriptivo-analítico, prospectivo,
transversal. La recolección de datos fue realizada mediante la técnica de la encuesta. La
población muestra estuvo conformada por mujeres que estaban dando de lactar a recién
nacidos hasta 30 días de vida atendidos en el “Hospital Nacional Adolfo Guevara Velasco”
y “Hospital Antonio Lorena” de la Ciudad de Cusco, durante el año 2020.
RESULTADOS: Se encontró que el 78.26% de las madres encuestadas no tuvieron un
consumo óptimo de pescado. Entre los tipos de pescados, el más consumido fue jurel
79.71%. Solo el 17.4% de las madres consumieron suplementos de DHA. Más de la tercera
parte (36.23%) de las madres nunca obtuvo información sobre el consumo de DHA. En el
análisis bivariado las variables sociodemográficas no tuvieron relación significativa con un
consumo óptimo de DHA. El haber recibido información sobre DHA en un Centro de Salud
o Centro hospitalario tuvo una asociación significativa con un consumo óptimo de DHA
(p=0.013, p=0.000 respectivamente). Entre las persona que brindaron información a las
madres, fue el medico quien tuvo una asociación significativa (p=0.010). Las madres que
recibieron información y estuvieron a favor del consumo de DHA, presentaron una
asociación significativa con un consumo óptimo de DHA (p=0.001).
CONCLUSIONES: Solo un 22.46% de las madres encuestadas presentaron un consumo
óptimo de DHA. La ingesta de pescado sobre todo jurel, dos raciones a la semana, es muy
importante para un consumo óptimo de DHA. También consumir suplementos de DHA y
