E: To analyze social and economic inequalities in the risk of perinatal mortality in the Cusco region in 2007 - 2012. METHODS: Descriptive study with analytical part, not only data are described but also the association of the event with social and economic factors will be sought. All the data used come from regional institutional sources (DIRESA) and from the Peruvian Institute of Economy (IPE), generated by publicly available standard methodologies designed to ensure the comparability of estimates between districts and in the given time. Two equity stratifiers were selected: income (economic dimension), and education (social dimension), in addition to the human development index (HDI) as a summary equity stratifier in the 108 districts of the Cusco region in the period 2007 and 2012. RESULTS: According to the mother's education stratifier, the absolute KI went from 21.4 in 2007 to 0.1 in 2012 and the relative KI improved from 2.3 in 2007 to 1.0 in 2012. Also, considering the monthly income stratifier average per family, the absolute KI decreased from 11.9 in 2007 to -1.8 in 2012 and the relative KI decreased from 1.7 to 0.9 in the same period of time. CONCLUSIONS: There is a lower risk of perinatal mortality in the districts with the highest human development index compared to those districts that have the lowest human development index. The schooling achieved by the mother is an indicator of perinatal mortality risk; there is more risk in the districts where the mothers have had less schooling compared to the districts where the mothers had more schooling. Districts with lower monthly family income have a higher risk of perinatal mortality compared to districts with higher wealth. The inequalities in perinatal mortality in the five-year period between 2007 and 2012 have decreased, this reduction has been conditioned by the decrease in the tmpn in the less favored quintiles and worsening of the most favored quintiles.en_US
