| es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the present investigation was to compare the influence of four pH levels (6.5,
7.0, 7.5 and 8.0) on the mixing and curing water on concrete properties (hardening, setting
time, compressive strength and resistance to traction) with design strength f'c = 210 kg /
cm2; modifying for it the pH of the water that was used in the kneading and curing of the
concrete. Before the test, tests of control, modification and monitoring of the pH were
developed taking into account the norm NTP 339.073; Also the quality control of the
aggregates was carried out by tests standardized by the ASTM C33, to then make the mix
design taking into account the method ACI 211.1 for the manufacture of cylindrical concrete
briquettes of 4 “x 8“, for the tests of resistance to compression and traction; for the setting
time, the normal consistency of the cement was determined (MTC 605), and then the setting
time was determined using the water with the different pH levels according to the norm NTP
334.006: 2003; for the hardening evaluation, a mortar based on Otawa sand and Yura IPtype
Portland cement was prepared with a f'c = 210kg / cm2 taking into account the
recommendations of the Edibon Practices Manual. The Brinell hardness tests were
performed at 2, 6, 14 and 28 days while for the compression and traction tests were
performed at 7, 14 and 28 days. In the Brinell hardness test, it was observed that as the pH
level increases from 6.5 to 8.5, the hardness also increases, obtaining values of 13.9 to 29.3
HB similar to that of wood and aluminum, whose values are between 1 and 23 HB. In the
setting time it was observed that the more the pH increases the more it also increases the
setting time; it was also observed that the alkalinity increases the compressive strength of
3.3-4.4% and the tensile strength of 2.1-6.5%, with respect to the standard sample while the
acidity decreases the compressive strength of 3.6-5.6% and the tensile strength of 2.5-3.6%
of the standard sample. After finishing the evaluation, it can be affirmed that the pH of the
water can be a beneficial factor that should be taken advantage of and that it should be taken
into account for the concrete mixing designs, for this reason its study should be continued. | en_US |
