The present research work entitled: “Tourism and its relationship with the care of the environment in the Ollantaytambo district of the province of Urubamba in 2017“, has as its main objective to determine the relationship between tourism and the care of the environment in the Ollantaytambo district of the province of Urubamba in 2017. The methodology used in the present investigation was that of a correlational – descriptive type. Descriptive because the concepts or variables of the research were measured independently, with the greatest possible precision. The data to be collected were obtained from the inhabitants of the Ollantaytambo district (9851 inhabitants), and 150 inhabitants were used as samples, and the survey was carried out on them. When analyzing the results of the research, the following conclusions were reached: Tourism has a negative impact on the care of the environment, and this is due to the lack of awareness among residents, tourists and service operators. Therefore, the lack of awareness about these issues leads tourists to generate and increase the amount of solid waste, resulting in the deterioration of the environment. The local and foreign tourists as well as the residents and companies that work in the district of Ollantaytambo do not always respect the environment and therefore generate waste that is harmful to it.en_US
