RESUMEN 
 En Perú los flujos turísticos son irregulares, por la temporada alta que son los 
meses de junio a septiembre, y de diciembre a marzo es considerada 
temporada baja, situación que afecta a la rentabilidad de las empresas del 
rubro del turismo. En el barrio de San Blas se ubican empresas con 
establecimientos dedicados a la actividad de servicio de hospedaje como 
“Guest House Índigo Cusco” que es una empresa de servicios de hospedaje de 
la categoría de Hostal de 3 estrellas, es relativamente nueva, con una casa de 
huéspedes pequeña, abierta desde junio de 2012. 
El trabajo de investigación busca determinar los costos operativos y la 
rentabilidad en esta empresa, planteando como hipótesis que los ingresos de la 
empresa de servicio de hospedaje Guest House Índigo Cusco del Barrio de 
San Blas-Cusco en el periodo 2015, se incrementan mensualmente y los 
costos operativos se mantienen constantes durante todo el ejercicio, por lo 
tanto la rentabilidad de la empresa se mantiene constante todo el periodo, 
incluso en temporada baja. La investigación se ha realizado bajo el enfoque 
cuantitativo de alcance descriptivo y no experimental.  
En los resultados se observa que el ingreso y el costo operativo se incrementa 
en los meses de julio a diciembre, debido al crecimiento de la demanda de 
huéspedes; la rentabilidad de la empresa tiene un margen de utilidad del 
60.22%. En conclusión, los costos operativos de servicios, de recursos 
humanos y de materiales y equipos son aceptables, mostrando un bajo costo 
operacional que servirá como incentivo a futuros inversionistas a participar en 
el rubro de turismo en el Barrio de San Blas.

ABSTRACT 
 In Peru tourist flows are irregular, by the high season which are the months of 
June to September, and from December to March is considered low season, 
situation that affects the profitability of companies in the field of tourism. In the 
neighborhood of San Blas are located companies with establishments engaged 
in the activity of hosting service as "Guest House Indigo Cusco" which is a 3 
star hostel category hosting services company, is relatively new, with a small, 
open Guest House from June 2012.  
Research work seeks to determine operating costs and profitability in this 
company, posing as a hypothesis that the income of the company's hosting 
service Guest House Indigo Cusco of the neighborhood of San Blas-Cusco for 
the period 2015, increase monthly and operating costs remain constant 
throughout the exercise, therefore the company's profitability has remained 
constant throughout the period, even in low season. 
 Research has been done under the descriptive scope and non-experimental 
quantitative approach.  
In the results shown that income and the operating cost increases in the months 
from July to December, due to the growth of the demand of guests; the 
company's profitability has a utility of the 60.22%.  
In conclusion, the operating costs of services, human resources and materials 
and equipment are acceptable, showing a low operational cost which will serve 
as an incentive to potential investors to participate in the field of tourism in the 
neighborhood of San Blas.
