RESUMEN 
El objetivo de este estudio es determinar el nivel de conocimiento de las 
gestantes sobre la salud oral de los niños de 0 a 36 meses de edad que 
asistieron a los servicios de odontología y obstetricia del Centro de Salud 
Oropesa el año 2 016, siendo   un   estudio   descriptivo,   observacional y   de   
corte transversal. La muestra consta de 97 gestantes; se aplicó una encuesta 
estructurada de 20 preguntas para la recolección de información  del  nivel  de  
conocimiento  de  las  gestantes,  en  donde se  abarcó temas como 
crecimiento y desarrollo, lactancia materna y hábitos alimenticios, higiene oral, 
caries dental, enfermedad periodontal, atención odontológica y tratamientos 
preventivos. Los resultados obtenidos, según respuestas correctas, se 
agruparon en una escala de bueno, regular y malo. Se obtuvo que el nivel de 
conocimiento que predominó fue el malo con el 71.1% de las gestantes 
encuestadas, seguido del nivel regular con el 25.8% y del nivel bueno con el 
3.1%; hallándose una relación significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento  de 
las gestantescon su trimestre de gestación,grado de instrucción, número de 
gestaciones y edad.

SUMARY 
The objective of this study is to determine the level of knowledge of pregnant 
women about the oral health of children from 0 to 36 months of age who 
attended the services of dentistry and obstetrics of theOropesa Health Center in 
year 2016, being a descriptive study , Observational and cross-sectional. The 
sample consists of 97 pregnant women; A structured questionnaire of 20 
questions was used to collect information on the level of knowledge of pregnant 
women, which covered topics such as growth and development, breastfeeding 
and eating habits, oral hygiene, dental caries, periodontal disease, dental care 
and treatments Preventive measures. The results obtained, according to correct 
answers, were grouped in a scale of good, regular and bad. It was obtained that 
the level of knowledge that predominated was the bad one with 71.1% of the 
pregnant women surveyed, followed by the regular level with 25.8% and the 
good level with 3.1%; Being a significant relationship between the level of 
knowledge of the pregnant women with their gestational trimester, educational 
level, number of gestations and age.
